A party of 25 members and friends enjoyed a visit to the Royal Mint in Llantrisant on a rather wet day in September. A very interesting day – we learnt a lot about the history and, of course, about how modern coins were made. They produce a lot of coins for other countries as well as Britain and we could see the factory workers minding the machines and emptying vast numbers of coins into counting machines. We couldn’t get many photos due to the security but the two shown here are a good memento – and we got to press our own pound coin!
We were very grateful to the Swansea Branch of the Leeds Building Society for helping make the outing possible.
